    Ideas for DIY Planter drainage??

I've mostly seen Drylok used on carved foam backgrounds to seal them, and allow a paintable surface. It is a masonry sealant, so not sure how well it would work on wood. The flex seal is basically just a liquid rubber.

    Black Pond Foam or equivalents

Bill’s link is a thorough explanation. You can find plenty of videos on YouTube on covering it with silicone and substrate or painting it with drylok to make it look more natural.

    HELP!

...thin spray coats. If no possibility of scratching through it, a couple/few coats of spray should be fine. I say multiple coats because there can always be pinholes, thin spots, or even gaps, so 2nd/3rd coats are more likely to fill. I have not used Drylok, so no experience/opinion either way,.

...because you get to see what's going on as it's happening instead of just reading a paragraph or looking at pics. Yes, you will apply the DryLok to the carved foam. I've never used the DryLok, but would assume it's purpose is going to be similar to silicone - to waterproof and conceal the...

...can see in both of these examples that I'm going backwards to edit things that I cut corners on. On another note, I've also seen people use DryLok with cement coloring instead of silicone and substrate/bare foam. Either way, if you plan to silicone or drylok you'll want to shave/cut off the...

    Bioactive Build

You're a life saver! I really appreciate you talking with me about this. This is my first reptile, and I want him to have the very best life. So, my other idea is to use plywood on the back, and attach a thin sheet of plexiglass to it or maybe the currugated plastic sheet and then put the foam...

    Bioactive Build

Yes the dry lock is what I was talking about. I am new to this so if I sound like an idiot I apologize. I have not found any blogs or YouTube's doing what I'm about to do and so it's hard to make sure I'm doing it all right. I've just been piecing it together. In my case I'll be putting the foam...

    Help Prepping for First Chameleon

...does not get below 65 at night? Thank you! Sorry not 100% sure what this is referring to. Great thank you. The background is sealed using drylok and concrete so it is pretty solid but do you think a panther could still make a dent in it? I am planning on bioactive (have isopod and...

What kind of screen should I use for a homemade enclosure?

...used Krylon Fusion spray paint in my enclosures. It works well and is non-toxic once it has dried. It does need a week or so to dry before it's safe to use. I have used it on top of DryLok which I have used to waterproof wooden enclosures, and I have also used it on screen to prevent corrosion.

Oops i did it again...jacksons china cabinet enclosure

I painted the whole inside, including the back, with 2 coats of drylok. Then I painted on gorilla glue and pressed coco fiber and sphagnum moss onto the background. The gorilla glue expands so you have to keep pressing it down for the first 20 minutes or so after you apply it. I did another...

    Safe wood sealant and paint

    DIY china cabinet enclosure

...how it looks so far. I think next time I'll try something other than expanding foam though. Maybe styrene boards carved and covered with drylok? One issue I had with the foam is that it didnt stick entirely to my rubberized cabinet. It stuck in ~70% of it, but in some areas after the foam had...

    Husbandry and Enclosure review

For a jury chameleon, around 8 months old, should be feeding him around 8-10 medium sized dubia, crickets, silkworms, hornworms etc. every other day. I would buy from an online feeder breeder (lol that rhymed) due to risk of parasites via pet store feeders. It is also cheeper. I buy my dubia...
