    Chameleon eggs splitting.

Are the eggs that are splitting all in the same area of the container? How many months/days have they been incubating? I can’t tell if that’s moisture on the lid since the photo is blurry…is it? I’ve never used pebbles to incubate eggs on, so I won’t comment on that. From what I know, eggs...

    Prego?

Unfortunately not, and it will within no time negatively affect their health. Each chameleon will needs its own enclosure, with at least 2x2x4 dimensions. I’m seeing red lights, is that correct? Are you using UVB lights? Why buying a breeding/mating pair? Do you have all the equipment to...

The heating performance is optimal and maintains the desired temperature range, however, the ambient temperature of the room where the incubator is located, specifically my bedroom, tends to fluctuate when the central heating is turned on. This causes the temperature inside the incubator...

one panther chameleon egg hatched this mornz!!!

You mean put the unlatched eggs in the bin you have set up as a cage for the one that already hatched? Definitely NOT…leave them in the incubation container until they hatch…and don’t open the container to check on them too often either….you will upset the humidity, etc in the incubation...

Soil temperatures in Andasibe, eastern Madagascar

Hello everyone, a friend of mine, my husband and I did some more work about soil temperatures, this time in the east of Madagascar. It was recently published in CHAMAELEO (magazine of the working group chameleons of the German society for Herpetology and Herpetoculture) and deals with nearly a...

    Oriental Cockroaches (Blatta orientalis) oothecas

You could try. No telling when he’ll be back on. In the meantime, the info I found about them is they do like dark, warm and humid places, so I imagine that would be the best environment to hatch the ooths. Maybe put a bit of lightly moistened moss around the ooths to maintain humidity. Other...

I’m new to this hobby (and community) and want to ask since it’s mentioned here: is a slight amount of moisture/humidity in an incubator ok or should there be none at all?

Wild Chameleon eggs. We want to save them.

Any plastic type container would work. You need vermiculite too…it’s hard to incubate them on soil. I’ll look for pictures and instructions for you. One alternative would be to bury them in the ground…but that might not work because she didn’t chose the site…and you might not chose right…if you...

New study: Furcifer antimena growth rates, interesting prelim results

This is a really cool case study. You saw more variable growth outside and pretty consistent growth indoors. I think the consistent temp and humidity patterns mirror this consistent growth and could explain this stable pattern What are you doing to maintain temp and humidity day vs night...

    Chameleon eggs

I incubate the eggs the same way that Lynda (kinyonga) does. Put them in a plastic Tupperware shoe box with about 3 inches of moist vermiculite and keep them in a closet where the temps with be around 76 degrees. I punch two tiny holes in the lid. To test for moisture, take a fist full of the...

...anything I put in, instead of letting the terrarium provide. It's frustrating I failed hard enough that none of them made it. For the eggs, I will first be more diligent in looking for them and put together a proper cooling incubator. I have all the pieces saved, just waiting until it's needed.
