It’s official, we are now part of the chameleon community.

...layer of leaf litter for your clean up crew to hide under. My chams have treated their isopods as an all you can eat buffet. It is nice enrichment for them, but the cuc is there to do a job, not be snacks. Placement - close to living room and stairs. Back facing the wall, one side painted to...

...all the branches) I've had opportunity to watch (study) the effect on Mr. Grumpypants. With fewer branches, I watch him look around and figure out how to get from where he is to where he wants to go, and I think it stimulates him to figure out these little problems and solve them. Enrichment.

...supplements, and environment and are avoiding feeding hornworms until he’s a bit bigger or feeding anything on the plastic branches of his enrichment tree. We also had some BSFL hatch recently and released them in his enclosure, so he’s been doing a bit of hunting. He usually has to get...

    Roaches infesting enclosure’s plants

...I'm using dubias, crickets, and giant mealworms as his main staples, with some of the other worms/larvae for variety. For a little enrichment, I rearrange a few things in the enclosure (relocate his highways), move his feeder cups (he knows where the food is), and twice a week he gets to run...

    Won’t eat the dubias

    Yup, that’s what I do

My veiled chameleon is unusually friendly and adventurous!

...Also, on the sheet I gave it lists BSFL larvae as a staple. Personally I never feed the larva form as sometimes they can come out whole/even still alive in their poop which is unnerving to say the least. My boy loves the catch the flies though. Flies in general are more of an enrichment thing.

    Temperatures ?

Thank you I have a panther five months old , yeah one of my biggest concerns is a power outage , I picked up a temperature laser today , quite surprising with the actual readings are in certain parts of the tank , just outside the basking area it drops to 71 under the bulb at his basking site...

Black Soldier Fly Nutritional value? (NOT BSFL)

...do lose some nutritional value. I could be wrong...honestly no idea. I feed the larva to my geckos and occasionally as ‘croutons’ in my beardie‘s salad. Primarily though, I use the pupated flies as treats for my chameleons. They love their flying treats and I think it provides enrichment to them.

    Helix aspera bees and silkworms

I stopped offering snails. I've heard a 2nd hand story of snail "snot" causing problems, but that wasn't the primary reason I stopped offering them. Some of my chams liked them, some didn't... but none of them ate them predictably. I would inevitably end up with a snail loose in the enclosure...

    She HATES the renovation 😞

It's an odd dichotomy. Some sources say don't mess with an enclosure as it may cause stress; others suggest rearranging an enclosure as a form of enrichment. Go figure. Also, not all stress is necessarily bad, e.g. eustress. ;) 🤓

    New Reptile and Cham owner!

I'm going to add to some of what @Gloriawood suggested. See my answers below in orange :) 6 month old panther chameleon, I have had him for exactly 1 week today! I do not handle him (only once after 4 days because I needed to clean the bottom of his cage and he did not like that at all). good...

    Hes likes that position!

...chameleons feel safer the higher up they are. In addition to thermal hazard, I would also be concerned about potential electrical hazard. Why are you allowing this? If you want to give him some enrichment by letting him out, placing him on a plant would be a much better option, IMO.

2 minor problems?? (overwatering plant issues)

...will keep your cham from seeing the charcoal and bark - but yhe larger chunks should deter it from trying to eat it anyway. Gnats will continue to be an issue until it drains better. I like to hatch mantis ooths in the cage - they’ll clear up the gnats AND they make a tasty, enrichment treat.

...dot plants, my veiled loves them! Seeing her excitement color change when she got it and watching her take a few bites was great. She takes a couple bites each morning and then heads to her basking spot. I feel like things that seem to add to their routine and enrichment are game changers...

Best Advice (rather than trusting google)

Yes, you can make your own misting system. I’m not sure if it will be a $$ saver as you will still need to get a pump, timer and mist head components. You can do a search of the forum to see what others have done. I believe it is something that had been talked about within the past couple of...
