Food Dilemma, won’t eat roaches and silkworms won’t be here until midweek

aaaaa I’m currently in Colorado so unfortunately not close enough but thank you for the offer! Unfortunately most of the silkworms I had left died this morning, with only two medium/large silkies left… I’m heading to the pet store to see the options they have. Her last meal was Friday where she...

Camiezone babies from Homer and Big Girl

Us having only one cham in the house will stick with dubia, silkworm and grasshoppers. We have ordered 250 crickets and in a week they are all dead. They are in a big plastic bin, eggcrates, with fresh vegies/fruits, cricket crack and heat under the bin, and still they die on us easily. While...

Camiezone babies from Homer and Big Girl

I would love to feed grasshoppers. How big of a grasshopper can Bolt handle? I know they can jump a heck of a lot faster and further than a cricket. Saucegandhi posted this link http://deanmissimer.com/ and there are grasshoppers 3” long and 4 oz. I can’t believe a grasshopper could be a...

    Chameleon diet on a budget?

I have a small army of insect eaters so need to save wherever I can. It’s quite a big savings to start your own small roach colony. It can take a small investment to get started and a few months before it will be productive enough, but is so easy and well worth it. I have cricket problems...

    Keeping crickets alive

I would say first, any crickets I’ve EVER purchased from a pet store don’t last a week. I order from Josh’s Frogs and keep them in a big 90qt plastic tote, I cut a hole on top and placed metal screen over it with a heat lamp, red 100watt bulb. I feed them a mixed “Bug burger” Repashy Bug Burger...

    Am I gutloading wrong?

It is a good one for crickets. But you would not use this one for any roach species. These are prone to develop high uric acid levels when fed a high protein diet. Mazuri is a high protein diet at 30% min protein level. This article Repashy did explains it better than I am...

    My Crickets Don’t Die

i don’t use the arcadia blend, but i have a colony of 1000 crickets in a large plastic tub and i feed them that same repashy blend, but with fresh greens and they’re cohabited with buffalo beetles and dermisted larvae to help clean mold and stuff, but i’ve had the colony about two weeks now and...

    I’m breeding crickets

So this is what I mainly use for the food and water and I use the zoomed probe thermometer to make sure the temp is good it ranges from 82-88 degrees depending on how wet the sand is. The crickets are at the perfect temperature to eat drink and breed constantly. I should have the first pinheads...

    Sick veiled chameleon. Help please

I’d be wary buying feeders from stores like pet smart there’s a good risk of cross contamination due to staff taking uneaten feeders and putting them back into stock. This site has some good sponsors that sell high quality bugs at a reasonable price, dubia.com is great and dubia roaches also...

Silkworm Mulberry Leaf Feeding Tips Needed

That's incredible. I have a setup with my crickets that allows me to do no cleaning except between batches. I am going to look into this and see if I can find a way to get my hands on the leaves. If anyone has a source for mulberry leaves I'd love to know where I can get some. I suppose I...

    Cricket basic questions for vacation

I don't exactly know how to answer some of your questions, but just speaking from experience, the crickets I've gotten tended to die pretty fast, like within a few days, and get pretty nasty. Mine were from the pet store though, so maybe crickets from better sources would be different? Also...

    Mouth issues

Yes, I have panthers and veileds and keep both essentially the same. My humidity is a compromise of around 45-50%. It’s a little bit low for panthers and on the higher end for veileds. All do very well though. I keep them in double sized enclosures, which is just 2 of the XL screened enclosures...

    Grasshopper Piggies

I keep my grasshopper feeders in a large - plastic critter keeper. I do supply them with heat. Grasshoppers are very nutrition. They are a top recommended feeder due to the higher protein and low fat ratio. A order of 50 is 50.00 which includes shipping (shipping is 10.00). I pay .80 cent...

    My Crickets Don’t Die

This is true. I was just wondering if they maybe breed using the dark rounded buckets as well. So I just got an order of 500 crickets yesterday. Should I get 2 or more buckets to try this out? Also do you want me to try with just the buckets first to help test your theory?
