    Enclosure advice

...that his enclosure is a bit too small for him. Being arboreal, he needs more height. Perhaps I can offer some inspiration with one of my bioactive enclosures. This is for one of my panthers and I’m fortunate to have the space to provide him (and all of my chams) with a double wide…4’ tall, 4’...

What to use for bottom of cage to make it bioactive??

hi all! just finishing setting up our reptibreeze xl and having trouble finding something that will fit inside the cage to hold all the bioactive components. i've searched the internet for a 21x21 (or similar size) tote, box, etc and can't find anything. so now I'm thinking maybe shower curtain...

    Hydration question

Is your bioactive in a screen enclosure or a hybrid? One trick to see if your chameleon is thirsty is to take a water bottle or one of those red solo cups and poke a hole in it. Place it over the top of the enclosure so it drips down on some leaves for your chameleon to drink. If your baby...

RIP Boogie... Advice on a necropsy for sudden death?

Oh ya no that does not sound fun at all! Something for down the road though :)

Chameleon not eating a lot and not shedding

Wow! You’re super quick! 😄 What parasite did they find? For your bioactive, I suggest adding a healthy layer of some leaf litter and a chunk of cork bark or two to provide not only some food for your clean up crew, but hiding places. My chameleons love hunting their isopods.

    Enclosure advice

Anybody got any improvements or ideas or any advice for my chams enclosure. It is fully bioactive with a wide range of plants. He has a 60 watt heat bulb and a t5 uvb strip light. He has drainage balls and charcoal chips for drainage and a mixture of coco soil and top soil for substrate however...

    Slugs in bio active enclosure

I keep chunks of cork bark for the isopods to hide under & that is where some can always be found. When taking down bioactive set ups, I always find a good number hanging out in the drainage layer, even though mine are usually dry. @Sonny13 had a slug or snail problem & he may have some advice.

    Mold in the Soil?

...we don’t want are fertilizers that are harmful for people/animals. I like to stick to natural types that would be found in forests (leaves, worm casings, etc). Even mold isn’t really dangerous and is overhyped 99.9% of the time. It can be a a part of newly started bioactives that passes with...

    Whats ailing Leon

Not to derail the topic too much, but I get oh-so sad when I see those little plastic container breeder shelf collections... I hope Leon feels better. I don't have any insight myself here, you're in good hands with skittles and beman.

Lawn shrimp ‘Arcitalitrus sylvaticus’ another potential CuC for bioactives

So these are a type of terrestrial amphipod (crustacean). They spring around and feed on similar things as isopods. Almost a year ago I bought a small cup for my crab tank and figured they died off. Well I was tidying up my crab tank, moving around soil and noticed them everywhere in the lower...

    Husbandry Check?

I would take him out while you set it up and make sure to have everything that you need right there. I had brought in an extra tall plant just to put my chameleon on to hang out while I redid everything. I made sure to be quick and I did keep a close eye just to make sure there wouldn’t be any...

    Help/feedback on a huge enclosure I’m making

The bioactive ABG/fish soil blend is in as well as some isopods and springtails to seed. The clean-up crew seems super happy so far! I’m planning on adding another branch cluster infront of the ficus to give him more access to the space. Can’t wait to see this thing grow :)

    Sick veiled chameleon. Help please

I would leave the plants right in the pots unless you are doing a Bioactive bottom. Bare bottoms are much easier to maintain and it gives the plants some height.

Window Tint for Karen the Carpet Chameleon?

...been 2 days, needless to say Karen is grey and too shy for this much exposure. I just bought another plant for her today, she has 5 in her bioactive enclosure already so I know it’s not a lack of hiding places, she just really feels exposed. Has anyone tried using the one-way window...

When can I start using substrate?

I may go bioactive at some point. That’ll probably be when she’s a little older. But I will probably keep the bare floor for a while.

    Cricket enclosure

A photo wouldn’t show the bioactive substrate as the bin is blue and you can’t see through the sides. But yes, it’s got just a layer of the clay balls, and then some reptisoil or organic black soil mixed with a little sand and mulch. The thing with crickets is that you need to keep it very...

    Remodeling enclosure after lost chameleon

...Thank you for the tips. I plan on following that cleaning protocol and taping some background to the sides for humidity. :D As for the bioactive part, I want to strive for a bioactive enclosure. That being said I do want to be cognisant of any concerns this brings up. In terms of parasites...

Bio active on Zoo Med XL?

I personally like it how @CryptKeeper did it, https://www.chameleonforums.com/threads/progress-of-my-bioactive-build.193509/ This gives you maximum space left inside the enclosure

Something is wrong, please help 🙏

...doing their patrols. They do not stay in one spot though. Is it possible that he saw an insect and was hunting it? All of my enclosures are bioactive and I am always finding one of my chameleons hanging upside down, hunting the isopods. While not as common, they will also briefly go down to...
