The thing for the unknown........everyone we tell about chameleons, looks at you like we´re out of this world. Everyone that visits us and spends a little time with our chameleons, only speaks about chameleons afterwards. The next visit they go straight ahead towards them and telling you how fascinating they´re........yeah right

Especially as women.... I honestly feel like it is more that then the fact that we have reptiles. People automatically assume it is more of a male hobby. Ya know like the idea of "little boys play with lizards and toads while little girls play with their dolls"

To me it almost looks like 50/50 with chameleons. And to be honest, when I first came here I was surprised as well, and really find it cool, because I don’t know women in my surroundings that are into chameleon. Okay wait, I don’t know any real life people around me that are into chameleons

LOL In Cali I happened upon my neighbor who had a Male veiled. I was maybe 9 months into the hobby. He was shocked about my set up and how much I spent etc. And then I saw his set up
I almost prefer now not to meet people around me with chams. I know too much now and see all the issues in their set ups and husbandry. And people do not want to be corrected 9 times out of 10.

I never did like dolls very much.

Same girl! I was all about climbing trees and getting into trouble.

Those where two things, I was really good at

A reptile is probably something most people consider a "wild animal that should be kept in the wild". Its a bit of nature in your home, which I happen to find quite facinating.

Maybe for some, but most of the negative responses seem to be more of yuckiness or fear. Plus I guess I don’t look like what a stereotyped reptile keeper looks like (do any of us? )
