i'm just curious as to why everyone named their cham what they did? and what are your cham names? there is meaning behind all my chameleon names and i just wondered what yours were? maybe post your chams names and why u named them that

I named my Jackson's chameleon Tiberius because I have just always liked that name. No real 'meaning' behind it though ;)

Calais means changes color, it is a greek god. Leopold because I watched the movie Kate and leopold.

love the movie Kate and Leopold lol

and my fish is named Tiberius for the same reason lol

Xylia means from the wooded area
Lulu is named after Lou (my fiances grandpa lol)
Inigo means Fiery one
Zip because he Zips from here to there
Jewel because she is our little ruby treasure
and Barnaby is our rescue and my friend said he looked like a Barnaby and i agreed lol

Mines name is Mordrid after a character in the dark tower series. She just looks like a Mordrid to me. I'm going to get a panther next, a male. His name will be General Disarray, because that is a great Cham name, IMHO.

When I started obsessing about chameleons I was at a very meditative and contemplative place in life.. So my first baby (male Sambava) I named Nirodha, meaning one of the Noble Truths of Buddhism that is in essence the end of suffering..

however... while he is still only 6 months old and definitely very cute and funny on his terms... he has turned out to behave a little more like The Great Nero (generally accepted by historians to be the craziest and worst of the Roman Emperors). So.. compromise... Niro for short.

My second child (5 month old Nosy Faly female) is the sweetest thing in the world and almost always has a knowing smirk on her face as if she is trying to tell me something... so sticking with the whole Buddhist theme.... Dharma..

Kukui is named somewhat after his dad, Mango. Mango is a tropical fruit, obviously, but I wanted to stick with the tropical theme. I lived in Hawaii, which also means a lot to me, so i combined the two and went with Kukui, with is the state tree of Hawaii and is the name of the nut that is born from that tree. The Kukui nut used to be used as candle oil - the ancient Hawaiians used to take the kukui oil, gather it, stick some frond in the oil and light it. since Veileds have a lot of yellow, I figured that it would look a little like sparks of fire.

the name has turned out more appropriate than I imagined - Kukui is quite the nutty lil chameleon, personality wise!

My first cham was named Karma, for obvious reasons. My second was Varekai and then Zumanity was her mate. They were named after Cirque Du Soleil because people said I had my own mini menagerie of animals at the time - a cat, two hairless rats, chameleons. In hawaii that's a pretty decent selection of animals, seeing as most everything else is illegal.

Bodhi was named after the Bodhi Tree, in which Buddha sat under during the enlightenment.

Loki's name is from Norse mythology. I liked the name more than the meaning in this case.

I really like Buddhist names and planned on keeping the trend with Loki. But the name stuck out and fit his personality. Chameleons are such unique animals, which makes me feel like they need unique names. In my opinion, the meaning behind the names brings a certain characteristic and mystery to them. I liked a lot of Japenese names too. I try to make the name interesting, meaningful, yet easy to pronounce.

My Sambavas " the monster one" it got his name because my daughter always referred him as the monster one, compared to all my other chams he is huge

Mine is Verde (green), after watching his color develop into very vibrant greens I though it was perfect. I was able to use his colors to name him because I got him when he was already about 4 months old "ish"

I named my little veiled male Smeagol from LOTR because he does actualy remind me of the character, and it's a perfect name for a veiled cham.

My Jackson male is named Gandolf in keeping with the LOTR theme and was suggested by a forum member who thought he looked wise ;)

Dont know what I am going to name my Kammer's baby when I get him later this month. Dont know weather to keep with LOTR, or something else.

May have to have him for a while before a name will pop into my head :)
