My New Enclosures

After many, many ideas on how and what materials to build enclosures out of, this is what we decided on. PVC and screens. The plastic is strong, water proof of course and UV safe/resistant. This is the same plastic that all the known PVC cage builders are using. There are lots of pictures and many details. I will also be adding to this thread the other enclosures we build. I know there are going to be plenty of questions about these, so I thought it would be best to have my own thread instead of adding it to the "Official Enclosure Thread." Although, if admins don't feel that I'm doubling up with posting, I will add a couple nice pics to that thread.

This first enclosure is 6'L x 2'D x 3'T. So each cage is 2' x 2' x 3'. Only problem was it wouldn't fit down my stairs to the basement. Ended up cutting one cage off, added another side, and then screwing them back together once they were in the basement.

This project isn't easy and for the faint of heart. So many tools involved such as table saw with plywood table, chop saw and routers, and clamps(which we have spent at least $500 on, and could still use a bunch more clamps - sheesh!).

I am super happy and so are my Chams:D No more spending a half hour or more going in circles hand misting everyone, although now I'm bored in the evenings haha.

Isn't it funny how something so simple in concept can cost so much money??? My enclosure was the excuse for a table saw, clamps, new drill, etc., etc.,.

Nice work on the build. Looking forward to see the next one. How long did it take to build?

Addicks - thank you for the nice comments. Each cage is 2' x 2' x 3' tall.

Decadancin - thanks - I will be posting probably next Monday the 2' x 2' x 4' enclosure. The first enclosure posted here, the 2'x 3' x 6' Long, took about 3 weeks, but only because there was technical difficulties along the way. First, we were sold glue that didn't work, then the bulkheads I got from my local pet store we were unable to thread a T fitting into, so had to install a smaller piece inside of the bulk head. Lack of clamps...oh dear lord the clamps lol. Really, it should only take about a week to build. It's waiting for the glues to set to be able to move on.

I can see that the walls are either PVC (more details please) or screen panels - what is the frame made from? Wood?

Nice build.

Thank you very much:D

The whole cage is made of PVC. The frame, if you're referring to the stand, was made out of angle steel with the holes in, so it is adjustable, then painted. I'll dig through my pictures, pretty sure I have build pics along the way.

I see what you mean about the clamps. You had to find a midget to go inside and adjust one in that second picture.

Are the side PVC panels glued to each other? No internal framework?
