My "Jungle Room"

Ta-da! It's a small den room (about 7' x 10') that I transformed from the cage room into the cage-less room. I had the tables set up to drain the cages, so I just took down the cages, hanged the lights from the ceiling, built a PVC and chicken fencing frame (I would have used wood to make it prettier, but I move once a year so I needed something easy to tear apart and throw out if need be) to support the mistking, and put up lots of plants, branches, and rope vines.

The plants in the room are ficus, cat palms, and pothos along with a fake ficus and fake orchid flowers. There is one corner where I want to get one more large plant in but my Home Depot is fresh out of cat palms and tall umbrella plants.

Taken the morning I finished building everything. Obviously, I hadn't vacuumed the construction mess yet! :D

Enjoy!

ok, now that we are all looking at our enclosures and feeling guilty, well thanks alot!!! just kidding, it is really Cham Heaven. You couldn't ask for any more.

I noticed some cords dangling in a few photos. I would find a way to tuck them away better. You dont chams climbing on them or water dripping on them. I use to screw my cords and power strips along the walls. Powerstrips I would screw high near the ceiling. Otherwise its a nice looking room. Goodluck!

DAMN!!!O_O

if i free range ZULU now, i think he will ditch me and get a cab to your place...:p

Haha thanks Carol! Nothing, you're just going to have to set Romeo free in your house! lol And find him on your headboard in the morning when you wake up, like me and Cerberus sometimes!

How did you make the drainage tables?

I made a table with raised edges and drilled a hole in the center. Then I bought a sheet of PVC sheet and laid it over the table, making a hole in the middle and matching up the two holes. I nailed the sheet around the hole and then nailed up the edges of the sheet halfway up the raised sides of the table, securing it by nailing wood bars across the edges. And these bars gave us a ledge to lay other wood bars on to make like a "grill." Everything was coated several times with sealer and silicone and so far it's holding up really well. It's the first table I've built that hasn't ended up rotting from the water, and the PVC plastic has a lot to do with that.

If that wasn't clear enough PM me and I'll send you concept sketches I made.

Thanks for the compliments guys! My guys have been doing fantastic since I changed the room, so they must love it.

I've been wrestling with the cords for weeks lol I keep ducktaping them to the wall and it just peels off. I'm looking to see what else I can stick them to the wall with. But no water gets on anything except the plants (which is good, because I rent the apartment, so ruining the carpets is something I'm happy to avoid.)

They get along alright? I would love to free range some males together but everyone picks on Hyperion!

3 panther males, and my other 3 chameleons have their own free ranges in separate areas of the house.

Thats what I was wondering do your males try to fight? My guy Bonzai will climb down a tree and walk all the way across the room to climb up another tree to fight with another male... he is very territorial .

Yea, absolutely. Essentially, all my chams mostly get along with each other, regardless of species, except for two matches that don't work. Othello, my jackson's, tries to woo and mount (I swear) my little nosy be, and Charlotte hates little Daedalus for no reason I can understand. But for the most part, everyone else is absolutely fine with each other. I try to keep Othello and Charlotte separated because of this, but it's not too uncommon to find something like this at night!

I want to make it clear that I didn't just throw everyone together in a room and see how it went lol

From what I hear having panthers together is easier than mixing in a male veiled. I've heard a lot about people keeping large rooms with panther colonies but not much about doing the same with veileds, I think they tend to be more territorial. So nothing Pssh, you're just going to have to get another panther male! haha

What an excellent job!!:):) The panther in the walking picture looks tiny in that area, how wonderful for your chameleons.

I've been very lucky that my panthers are super docile with each other. They were showing me this long before I build the room, because they'd get off their individual free ranges and just chill with each other on someone else's. And they never fight. But obviously not all chams have the same temperament so it's not something that's going to work for everyone.
