    Broken Leg

The cost of the animal -v- the surgery (if indeed required) would not even come into it for me, I am afraid.... Yes, it can be hideously expensive, but I would always pay it, if I had to. One of my female tortoises suffered a prolapse about 8 years ago, which necessitated the surgical...

    Broken Leg

When I took Ghengis to the vet with a broken tail, I actually asked my vet what can be done in the case of broken bones and it is usually surgery.

    Having serious tests tomorrow...

Update Hi everyone, hope you all had a lovely Christmas and a happy new year as well. Sorry I have been a bit quiet recently. I had biopsies before Christmas for suspected breast cancer, but I haven't had the results yet. I was told that it will be the first week in January, so I am...

New Veiled Chameleon owner. Thoughts on my enclosure etc?

100 degrees is way, way to hot as a basking temp for even an adult chameleon, let alone one as young as yours - you should be aiming for the high eighties at most with a juvenile. I also agree with everything that Carlton has said- as lovely as the viv is and the materials that it is made...

    help!

How many insects has he been eating regularly? Young chameleons usually eat like horses - and I would expect a two month old to be consuming between 15 and 20 small insects a day. Do you offer a variety of other insects other than roaches and worms? Sleeping during the day indicates a...

    nosy be illness

Closing eyes and rubbing them on branches can be a Vit A deficiency, but vitamin A is extremely toxic to administer - too much can kill your chameleon. I dust ONE feeder with Vit A powder, once a week and put this feeder in with the others when I feed them.

    Some quick advice

With christmas around the corner, and the fact that you have said that your current vet knows reptiles, honestly I would go for the script. Zlew, I am not an expert by any means, but at least if you have the drugs to hand, and your cham worsens over the festive period, when it might be near...

    Respiratory issues/moving

Hi, welcome to the forum. Sorry that you are having some issues. Before I mention what your vet has said, a couple of things in your husbandry stick out - - you should be steering clear of tomatoes for your feeders - they are toxic to chameleons. - supplementation needs to be plain...

    Vacation advice

I agree entirely about the paranoia thats exactly why I wouldn't leave mine. I would worry myself sick but that us just me, I honestly meant no offence or upset to the OP and can understand completely that she absolutely must do what is right for herself and her family. I will pm her to...

    Vacation advice

Sorry you feel that way - I did not attack you or call your a poor owner in any way. You posted asking if you thought it would be acceptable or okay to leave your chameleons for four days. This is a discussion forum and I gave my opinion - which is no - I wouldn't do this under any...

Unorthodox Gut Loading Advice from Vet

My advice would be no. Too much protein can play havoc with a chameleons kidneys and you are risking this by feeding dog food. Dogs and cats need high protein in their diets, chameleons do not. If you give your chameleon a muti-vitamin/mineral supplement, by dusting well fed insects once a...
