Thanks for the replies. He drank a lot more today when offered a dripper and perked up a ton. I think their room was also not cooling enough at night. I spent some time around a dwarf jax years ago, she was happiest when the temp got way down to about 60 at night. I have better air circulation...
Sperm plug! That seem right. fecal check does sound like a good plan. Thanks.
I guess for now I'll just keep an eye on the female and see what happens, and give the little guy some closer attention making sure he is still drinking.
Thanks!
Thanks! I've got a new hygrometer on the way. Pulled stuff out of storage for them and that piece was no longer functional. I'll definitely look into a mist King, they seem like a pretty worthwhile investment. I'll start working on putting together separate housing for them asap.
Hi, I unexpectedly took in four Jackson's chameleons a couple of days ago. 2 males and 2 females. They were in a pet store receiving minimal care, very low humidity, housed in a trio with the second male alone, all with little area to hide. The crickets they were eating were gut loaded with zoo...
Hi,
I took in a lot of temporary reptilian room mates over the weekend, which included 2.2 Jackson's. Aside from the Jackson's most everyone will be rehomed once they are healthy. Ive had some experience with chameleons, and have even been planning to get Jackson's for quite a while. These...
Hi there!
I've been planning to get chameleons for many years, and just about ready to jump in. I live in Oregon, spacifically in the southern Willamette Valley. Anyone else out there from my area? If so I'd love to hear about your set ups, what species you've had success with, and any...
I am always amazed when I watch arboreal snakes hang from a branch while they constrict and then eat their meal. Yesterday our carpet pythons were doing a really good job of this,
So I snapped this photo.
Thanks for the info! Could get fresh poles, but I know they wouldn't last too long. I figured it would not be too bad, especially compared to what is in some stains/sealers that are commonly used.
Howdy,
I am designing an indoor chameleon enclosure and was planning to build the frame out of bamboo poles. The preserved poles I have found are cured in borate salts. I searched the forum, but the only info on borates I could find was on the safety of using an eye wash that contains borate. I...
I've got the quintessential ball python collection (about 50 total), a pair of jungle carpet pythons, and a pair of brazilian rainbow boas, a Green tree python, reticulated python, African house snake, and a classic corn snake (the second reptile I ever got). There's also an argus monitor, the...
That takes me back to my pet shop days. We once had animal control show up because of a report that we had a "giant lizard with its skin peeling off that would probably not last the night"... It was a shedding adult rhino iguana, so at least they got the giant lizard part right.
That's a big uro! Sorry to hear about your misfortune. I'm planning to set up an outdoor pen for them this summer. Definitely going to raccoon proof it.
I didn't spend as much time as I should have with these guys when I first acquired them. They are a sexed captive bred pair that were a great...
