If you have a nickel handy you can check your scale to make sure its reading correctly, the nickel should weigh 5.0 grams. If it is, are you sure its 6 months old? i know its not fair to compare a Jacksons to a Veiled but my 5 month old veiled weighs 63.5 grams.
As a few others have said, push it in further. I had the same problem almost tried taking apart the nozzle. Decided to just try to push it a little bit further instead and it went in another 1/8th of an inch or so.
