ahh, what a cutie, and what a nice looking cage. I am glad you are looking for a new home if you are not able to take are of him, I know school can be very stressful, and when you are counting minutes, taking care of a pet is stressful.
I got the zoo med halogen 150 watt, and it was a mistake. It got so hot it melted a nylon rope, and I mean burned a hole it in. Using their basking light, works great.
Thanks!
I recently got my first chameleon a few months ago, so no. I would have to put in a mesh of some sort to keep chameleon in, and predators out. Here in Santa Cruz CA it does get pretty warm in the summer so I am sure he would love basking in the sunshine, or hiding under a leave for...
I love the Dragon Strand enclosure. I took some close ups for detail how I hung 4 inch potted plants on the side with bailing wire from the hardware store. I stole the idea from other enclosure folks have posted on this site. The table below I made myself which exactly fits the cage.
Note...
My panther chameleon made a coughing / sneezing sound and I took him in to the vet for a culture, $150 later for a culture, there were some pathogens and I had some liquid antibiotics to administer. I am not sure if I gave him enough, but he still occasionally makes that coughing / sneezing...
I have a larger cage and like the exo terra sun glo 150 watt. It is natural in color, gives good light and makes a big basking area. Keep your receipt, I got a bum one and had to return it in three weeks.
Very nice cage by the way, like the mitered corners on the doors. Man and his chop...
I got that cage with the 3 sides plastic, and absolutely love it. After doing the math on building my own cage and buying, for the money, Dragon Strand is really good value.
It will take a couple of hours to build, it comes in a flatpack like Ikea furniture. it is really easy to setup though...
FWIW: I have noticed my guy eats more the warmer he is. When I was working through cage issues it was just too cold form him and he didn't eat much. Once i got it resolved he eats regularly. Could it be cool? For my case having the upper 1/2 in the hi 70's low 80's, and basking lamp made a...
I Used tacks and they are a mess, tacks kept falling out. I got these vines and they work great, look natural, but bead water so the cham can lick off of them...
that said, chameleons don't lick their behinds and other junk like dogs and cats, and everyone is not always washing their hands after petting them. Are we getting a little pedantic?
maybe dragonstrand has something: http://dragonstrand.com/product/universal-19-heavy-duty-drainage-tray/ I have one of their cages and the drip tray is some sort of plastic, not as sturdy as it looks, but is water proof. They also have a substrate tray.
I have researched shower pans at the...
When I took my guy to the vet I filled a water bottle with hot water and wrapped it in a towel, and put that in a box with him. When I opened the box, he was sitting on the warm towel. If you have access to hot water, maybe you can work something out in a small, well ventilated box?
He is doing great. I think the reason for my post is he runs around fine, likes to come out and run around, eats 7 large crickets at a time, but had this little cough I would hear maybe a couple times a day, or not at all one day. Seemed odd so I took him to the vet and he is actually could...
