Thank you so much for all of the feedback from everyone! I was able to bring the nightly temperature down to 62 (10 degree drop) with the swamp cooler until I get a proper AC in for him. I have a new Zen habitat coming tomorrow that I will rig to be close to a portable AC to make sure he gets...
Thanks for the response!
I’m thinking of moving him to the master bedroom and getting a portable AC. The swamp cooler helped bring temps down from 71 to 66 but that’s still not enough of a drop and he’s easily awake at night. I also have to have the enclosure doors open so it hits him head-on...
One thing I do think is an issue is getting the temperature drop down enough at night because I understand they like to be on the cooler side. His ambient night temp has floated around 68 with his day temp 71-73 and I definitely don’t think that’s enough but correct me if that’s wrong.
Does...
I’ve followed the care sheet from Chameleon Academy and have an Exo Terra terrarium currently set up (ventilation holes in front and screen mesh up top, all glass otherwise for humidity). He’s been crawling upside down on the screen top and I’m so glad I have the lights up so he won’t burn but...
Forgot to add that he seems to have been pooping fine with no weird stool issues! I double checked his enclosure at the place because of the vent situation. He’s been timid with eating (day 2 of ownership) so once he passes another I can update with a photo of that.
Thank you! Hoping to get a solid answer soon, he seems to be completely chill and unbothered but the husbandry at the store wasn’t the greatest (he was near black in his enclosure). Hoping it’s a vitamin thing but I’m no expert. @JacksJill whenever you can weigh in on this I’d appreciate it...
We just picked up this young Machakos Hills Jackson’s chameleon and we noticed he has this growth or similar on his vent. It doesn’t appear painful, there’s no redness at all. It’s just there. Is this something we can correct?
Not really, sometimes when he eats a few bugs he will put his nose up but it seems like he’s just helping everything to settle down into his stomach. Is that normal? It stops a short time after that and he’s been doing it for a while with feedings and seemingly no obvious issues. He hasn’t been...
It’s been dry in there, I noticed it at 9am and the last time the mist went on was at 6am. There were a few small drops left on his lower plants but he was dry and hanging out in the upper canopy.
I recently switched to a MistKing system (set to run for 1 minute twice a night at 9pm and 1:30am, and then 2 minutes at 6am) after using the water glass method for a while since I had originally tried the subreddit for care information. It’s day 3 of having the system installed in my panther’s...
