    My Heart is Breaking

I'm so sorry to hear this, Jann. What a sweet little face. It is so unfair that we have to say good bye so soon. Keep those memories and photos close and know that you've always done your very best for him.

    cohabiting feeders.

I’d say no for various reasons. Phasmids are extremely prolific, insatiably hungry, and don’t respect personal boundaries. If they don’t decimate the foliage and escape to every corner of your house, they’ll still drive your cham crazy with tickle torture. The larger species (green beans...

Porky was fired up with her rattlesnake pajamas on this morning. Her brother is settling in well.

    Oops - Kinyongia Boehmei

Ecstatic to share that the only male from my original clutch of babies, has returned to live with me! He has spent the past ~5 years living with a good friend, and I am so happy to have the chance to spend time with him again. He and his sister Porky turned 5 this month!! I wish I had an...

Kinyongia Boehmei - Breeding Project Log

my female was gravid when I acquired her (unbeknownst to me). She laid her eggs within a month of her arrival. I kept the eggs in a small container with a few small holes for ventilation on moist vermiculite. Didn’t need to add water. Kept them in a dark, room temp closet and they hatched...

Kinyongia Boehmei - Breeding Project Log

Great news! Fingers crossed for you! Keep me in mind when it is time to find new homes for the babies! I’ve given up on grandbabies but would love to continue keeping KB. Such a fun species! I’ll have to go back and double check, but I think my eggs hatched at nearly 7 months on the dot.

Spruced up the outdoor enclosures for summer!

Im in Maryland and we have all the seasons. My biggest concern are days above 95 (they come in) and severe storms (also come in). My spouse is home when Im not so I dont have as much concern about sudden severe storms as he can bring them in for me or spritz them mid day if its in the 90s.

    Hello is Monstera deliciisa ok

Yep - totally fine but the leaves will get larger, taller and wonkier, so they aren't great plants for enclosures in my experience. Look for rhaphiadophora tetrasperma (aka mini monstera). Those have a similar look but leaves will stay smaller and vine all over.

Spruced up the outdoor enclosures for summer!

The weather has just gotten warm enough that I was able to put them outside for summer. Its been very rainy. Just planted the garden and looking forward to it all filling out. How is the weather in paradise?

    Senior-proofing

I add a lot of various sized fluker bend-a-branches (cheap on amazon) and often wrap them together to create a variety of shapes. I also add bird ladders horizontally, especially where they sleep and bask… then I weave the flukers fines thru them to add stability and varied surfaces. My really...

Spruced up the outdoor enclosures for summer!

I spent the weekend prepping the garden and outdoor enclosures for summer. Decided to “paint” it all black (w Vermont Naturals Poly Whey weather treatment). Behind the enclosures are green bean supports that create a privacy hedge for the chams. The trees will fill out soon and the foliage...
