i have the same problem, my guy is always an unattractive brown or black. the only time he looks night is when he is sleeping, or sometime when he eats crickets he will get some color to him. haha oh well.

i have had a dripper on him, i forgot to mention that. maybe its just nothing, he eats normal, and acts normal. so i guess ill just keep an eye on him and make sure he acts normal and whatnot.
