Hi, what province are you in? Isabelle Gagnon in QC works with some species including Lateralis. She's on FB. Chameleons Canada ON sometimes has a couple CB chams but mostly brings in wild caught. Chameleons of Canada FB group might have some leads but I barely use FB.
I waited until my female was approx. 1 year old and she weighed 14 grams before attempting to breed. I know some breeders will attempt sooner but it's important to give the female time to develop and be hardier for the breeding stress.
If you need to use lamps after sunset, I would suggest draping dark curtain around the enclosure to block the lamps light. Please Do Not drape anything over the light fixtures!
I also tried the 5 gallon bin with no success. I found my female trying to get out rather than dig. Shortly after placing her back in the enclosure she scattered the eggs without issue.
Luckily only waiting for 1 more to pop so I'll be ready. But yeah, as as I get home I'm watching the goober. I live watching chams do their thing without interrupting them.
Hi, diy chameleon guys have a great tutorial on the chameleon academy youtube channel about building a drainage layer. You can use plastic corrugate board for the bottom and silicone seal the border. Check out rhe video. Really helpful.
