    Very nervous/scared chameleon

I have heard different opinions on handling chameleons, some day not to handle at all while some say to try perservere and eventually they will get used to you. Unless I have food in my hand he will run away from me or hang upside down from his branch.

    Very nervous/scared chameleon

Hi, Looking for some advice on my Yemen/Vieled chameleon as he seems very nervous. I've had him for about 3 months now and he's around 6 months old. He's happy to hand feed most of the time but other than that he wants to run away or hide from me. I have only managed to handle him once since...

    My chameleon is very nervous

I don’t have this option as unfortunately in England it isn’t that warm and I do get lots of birds in my garden. I put him on a plastic tree while I was cleaning the viv which he seems to like but struggled to get him off and back into the viv so ended up moving the tree with him on over there...

    My chameleon is very nervous

He seems to be happy in his cage just doesn’t like me putting my hand in unless I have food. He is still fairly new to me as I am to him so I’m guessing is may just take time.

    My chameleon is very nervous

Thanks, I try to hand feed once most days. When I first got him he kept hissing, gaping, puffing up and going black. He hasn’t done that for a few weeks and has been letting me hand feed so thought he was getting better. I have noticed if I do try to do anything in his viv he either hides in a...

    My chameleon is very nervous

Hi guys, Had my Yemen/veiled chameleon about a month now and was told I could handle him after a month of letting him settle - he was also due to be cleaned out. I’ve managed to get him to hand feed from me sometimes but when I tried to coax him onto my hand he was so scared and hid away. In...

    New owner of Yemen/Veiled Chameleon

That’s why I chose a boy for my first cos I heard they’re easier. I live in England which is always cold and wet, according to the weather forecast humidity is 70% - 80% all year apart from summer. I will look into getting a live plant for him then :) Thanks, you’ve been very helpful :)

It usually rises to about 50% after misting. The lowest it’s been is 35%. I have a digital humidity gauge and the probe is quite close to the heat at the moment so I’ll move it away and see if that changes anything. Would you recommend a live plant? First day I got him he was trying to eat the...

    New owner of Yemen/Veiled Chameleon

Thanks, I read thorough that care sheet. Just wanted to check if my daily routine was okay? My main worry is the humidity during the day rarely goes over 40% and sits around 70% - 80% during the night. Was thinking of getting a live plant to raise the day humidity but then the night humidity...

    New owner of Yemen/Veiled Chameleon

I researched for months to learn how to care for them. But I guess most of it will come with experience. I have experience in reptile keeping but I know chams are a bit more advanced. As I’ve noticed everywhere has a different opinion on how to care for them so thought I’d join this for advice...

I was told by the shop I bought him from just to use multivitamin (nutrobal) 5 out of 7 days a week. Will too much vitamins cause harm? And I thought the d3 allowed them to digest the calcium?

    New owner of Yemen/Veiled Chameleon

Hi guys :) I recently brought home my 3 month old male Yemen/Veiled Chameleon - Frank. I brought him home Thursday 22nd March and thought I'd join this forum for any tips/advice to make sure my husbandry is okay. I modified an old wooden vivarium (3ft x 1.5ft x 1.5ft) and added perches...
