you are fine. im into vivarium building and we use coco backgrounds all the time. and in a vivarium for lets say Dart frogs you have to keep the humidity as high as you possibly can. so i wouldn't worry to much about the coco background rotting.

that vield is gorgeous, one of the prettiest i have ever seen. congratulations and good luck with your new family members :)
