I've experienced dropping a cham before and the best advice I can give you is *try* to not worry too much. Just keep a watchful eye out for any ill signs/symptoms such as swelling or limping and make sure he is eating.

I breed my own superworms and I find that it takes about 10 days to turn from pupae to beetle. It's strange that you found one in your superworm tub though as they generally don't morph into pupae unless separated individually. But ya, they are creepy looking lol ><
My chameleons don't seem to mind my dog but each cham is different. Parrots you could keep out of line of sight, not sure if the noise would bother them though. I would be worried about the cats jumping on cages and such.

I'm from Toronto as well. I try to get my chams out for about an hour or so after work a few a times a week and on the weekends. There have been a couple nights where I have let them stay outside but I usually bring them back in.
