the ledges are great you never have to worry about putting holes in your screen and it makes your screen cage feel much stronger I would not build anther cage without them
as far as the color of the light the higher kelvin you go the more blue the light gets 6500k would be white and 20000k would be very blue looking and you can use aquarium lights for your plants . The way the lights work in fish tanks is the lower the k more growth higher the k more colors in coral
I know if you have 2 cages next to each other you need something to block the view from each other but in a effort to maximize space in my new 4x8 room I built I was planning to have them at each wall facing each other which will make it about 4-6 feet apart depending on where they are...

thx yes I had to have heaters on all the time because it is so cold around here this year. the last 30 days have been brutal, low temps have been in the single digits and wind chill as cold as -20. I know it is winter but I live in nj and it should not be anywhere near that cold here ave...
Finally got around to putting up a much needed room in my garage for my chameleons. This replaced a make shift room that the walls were made of plastic drop cloths. This time around the walls are made of foam insulation.
Like the other have said don't beat yourself up I think they are very nice and we all new what we were getting when we asked for them and the price was right. I think if you make it bigger you should be fine thanks again
