I have a similar free range and I caught my guy climb to the top of his cage, down a cord to the ground and up to his free range. I think he has plotted this since he was introduced to the free range. He would rather have access. LOL :D
I would encourage you to cover the cages with a blanket if you have a hard time keeping the warmth. This will insulate and help to keep the cage at good temps. You may want to do this before the power goes out in anticipation. Good luck!
