Yeah, I would put it outside but it’s currently too cold out. Thanks for the tips! So should Schefflera be allowed to dry out or should there always be moisture? I usually let the top inch dry out before I water.

Thank you. I’ve had it for 2 years and haven’t changed anything other than letting it dry out. Like I said above it has the mites but I’ve pretty much gotten rid of those. I’ve been talking with people and they think it could have been caused from being in front of the heating vent in the house...

So one of the stems that turned black at the base fell off, and it was all dried out with no sap going to it. Could this be from me forgetting to water it?

It was definitely the pothos causing the nitrites. It started turning yellow and looks kind of pitiful now. So I think my conclusion is that they can take salinity up to 1.008 s/g but anymore than that and it's a slow release of nitrites and then it dies.

I think I've decided to take the pothos out. Something is causing the nitrite levels to go way up, so I'm going to remove it and see if that helps.

The plants are doing awesome at 1.010!

I forgot to give updates. So I got a little impatient and went ahead and bumped the salinity levels to 1.005. The plants are doing amazing!

I know that brackish water has to be monitored closely until you get a system in place though, and that you can't keep adding the same amount of salt and water each time because the specific gravity will start to raise.
