    Help with large enclosure (2m x 1.5m x 2.5m)

I Missed this post but you were spot on from the images I shared. They were from 2018, here's one from June 2020. Quite a lot of hard work getting his weight back under control and also a bit of gout. And as this is an enclosure thread here's another of him in it He hatched around August...

    Help with large enclosure (2m x 1.5m x 2.5m)

Thought I would give a small update, I think this is pretty much from when it was first setup: And here is how it has grown in over the last ~year I had a bit of an issue with leaks, i'm not sure how as it was fully lined but there we go. Now that the plants have settled in a bit they are...

    Solarmeter

Can somebody explain this chart? I would have thought a "quad" would have higher levels of UV than a single? To me it looks like single and quad should be flipped but I must be missing something?

    Help with large enclosure (2m x 1.5m x 2.5m)

Okay. I think we are on the same page and talking about getting to the same thing. In my current 4'x2'x2' setup, at 7am all the lights come on full blast until about 6pm when they turn off - basking is on a dimmer stat but is mostly 100%. In addition a few times a day the enclosure is blasted...

    Help with large enclosure (2m x 1.5m x 2.5m)

I'm not aware of any uvb strip lights that work on a dimmer stat, especially not a uvi dimmer stat?? I don't think that going from 1 light to 2 lights to 3 lights and back down to 1 over the course of 13 hours is a completely unnatural flipping of lights on and off that is going to unduly stress...

    Help with large enclosure (2m x 1.5m x 2.5m)

I used pond liner over external grade ply. Drainage layer is 50-80mm of clay balls with a membrane over, i've then added a pvc pipe in a corner than goes through to the base so that I can pump out water if it builds up excessively, hopefully once the plants are established they will deal with...

    Help with large enclosure (2m x 1.5m x 2.5m)

Ha! I dont think so! Not as yet, but its under consideration. I have the luxury of making sure this all works properly before Kamil moves in. The method I am playing with at the moment is by using smart sockets that can be controlled over an app and then using something like IFTTT to push...

    Help with large enclosure (2m x 1.5m x 2.5m)

Hi, I am just finishing off a new house for my Panther Chameleon. Its 2.0m wide, 2.5m high (in the middle) and about 1.5m deep. Build pictures: So, now you're caught up. No its not finished still need to add more branches, plants etc these were just some spares I had...

Nervous/Excited New Member with Bioactive Setup!

Hi, Another UK Bioactive Panther here :) I use a mesh cage but both can work. Definitely agree with other posters, you should look to get a uvb strip light instead of a compact. Compacts aren't as bad as they used to be but they still aren't as a good as a strip. I think you could do with a...

    Madagascar environments

I'm not sure these claims are true that they are unable to get there. From all the accounts I can find online panthers are at their most common along road sides and in other clearings rather than in the deep jungle. I don't think we should just ignore this.

Is this "Did you know?" statement REALLY that true?

Hmm if we took the time duration down from 20 milliseconds to only 2 milliseconds you would get a speed of around 3.3ms (13mph) otherwise to keep 20 milliseconds you would only have an acceleration of ~300ms-2 rather than 1,642ms-2.

Is this "Did you know?" statement REALLY that true?

You are confusing accelerating with traveling at a constant velocity. A constant speed is measured in metres per second. While acceleration is metres per second per second (huh!?) Real world example. You are travelling at 0 metres per second, you start to move (accelerate) and as every second...

    New member with new Cham

A few more, sun has been out recently so managed to get him out in the garden. This had the additional benefit of giving him a really good reason to climb on my hand, natural sun! So he's got really quite friendly now and comes to the door whenever I go into his room :) Can really see his...

IS IT ONE OR BOTH? PLS LET ME KNOW. SUPLEMENTS/UVB

Generally you will not need to do anything special to give your cham the appropriate amount of uva. Whereas uvb is important for natural healthy growth.
