    Rick Grimes cat bite update!

Hahaha honestly the wife and I joke how it was inevitable, considering what happens to Rick getting his arm cut off and all. Thanks for everyone's replies.

    Rick Grimes cat bite update!

Hey everyone, just thought I'd give an update on Rick! A month ago he had his tail amputated due to a cat bite and puncture wounds on his back. He is now fully healthy, just a bit of black on his tail stub from cauterising.

Enclosure too large?? Concerned new owner

My Rubbermaid is well vented on the top, and two of the sides. In an open area with no stagnant air.

    extra basking time

I usually do 12/12 but for instance if sundown is still a warm sun, I'll perch him in the sunlight for an extra hour and a bit. Not a lot longer though, and he's been growing great no ill effects.

    Dark in color.

Well then he may be having a change in attitude because he senses a change in environment. For the color change, since his basking spot isn't the heat it used to be, he's changing to a dark color to absorb more heat. Just suggestions though.

    Dark in color.

You have him on your hand when he's green, he won't even let you handle him anymore? The color of him dark looks like his basking colors, but if he's dark all the time now, I'm not sure.

Enclosure too large?? Concerned new owner

Yep, I actually cut a hole in the lid leaving like an Inch so it could still clip, and then laid insect screen first, so the lid holds the screening down. Works good too cause when I mist he skims the droplets at the top to drink.

Enclosure too large?? Concerned new owner

I bought my cham at 3 months old, he is only 4 now, the enclosure I built is 4 feet tall 2 deep and 20 inches wide. That is still much too big for him so I have him in just a plain old Rubbermaid. It has a vine in it and some artificial plant in it with lots of leaves to hide. I have a feeder...

    Disaster

So last night I took Rick Grimes in for a 10 day check up! All his wounds are closed and close to healed. The vet weighed him, and from his little 5 g weight the first visit he's up to 11g now! He also said I'm good to stop the anti biotics. Just thought I'd share the update. Thanks to everyone

    Disaster

All silk worms were too large for him, so I coated the meal worms I had with miner-all, and a few crickets, he ate 3 of each! So his appetite is there and I'm super stoked.

    Disaster

Well day two, both his body wounds, one on each side, are closed up nicely. The end of his tail looks a little rough still though and he has some bruising but he's improving.

Yeah I've been pretty adamant on making sure he gets it down, and he does seem to like the taste, lol makes sure he licks his lips after. I'll check my local pet store for small silks tomorrow. If not I'll have to try the cut method. Like I said, thanks Jajeanpierre. Nice to have someone with...

No meal worms, got it. Just pending the silk worm question, if I can't find small ones, cut one in half? And toss that in his mouth after I squirt the antibiotics?

    Disaster

It was our own house cat.

    Disaster

The vet didn't stitch the open tail, he only cauterised it, excuse my spelling. He used a powder/foam to seal it. Its just a sore now at the end. I'll call them about it. And jajeanpierre about the cutting the silk worm in half?
