I also tend to shield my 2 month old veiled from light after he goes to sleep around 7/8pm. I'd suggest only partially covering his enclosure, and with thinnish material or heat and humidity levels may climb. Can't hotbox the lil guys now can we!
I was also wondering about sound- I've played...
That's really messed up. I absolutely hate the idea of animals eating their own kind, freaks me out.
I've also seen chams enjoy stick insects and love the occassional praying mantis. Damsel flies are another treat.
I'm still working on a reliable dripper system. A container with a hole in it, even bigger than a pin-sized hole, will eventually stop dripping due to a lack of vacuum I've found.
Nice girl! I recently got hold of my 6 week old male, such an interesting little guy, with a quite different behavior to the local chameleons in Cape Town, a species I am well used to. He took his first dramatic bite (so funny) out of a leaf yesterday. That single bite marked leaf I'll keep for...
Indeed, my experiences come from local chams in my garden. They dance along my pool's perimeter en route to a chosen bush in the distance(on a windy day), and I've had to rescue a few guys who must have been blown in. They sort of wriggle around in the water uncomfortably, and are relieved to...
Yea, I have quite a few in my garden- they are not that uncommon in certain areas around Cape Town. Here are a few pics, I'm going to get more when I can:

Wow, interesting to read these chams are living in Florida! I live in Cape Town, and although I wouldn't attempt it myself, I reckon Veiled's would be able to live here in the wild, aswell as other areas in South Africa. The climate is not harsh, the numerous local chamelons bearing testimony to...
Thanks guys, much appreciated. I also like the idea of free roaming moths and flies, which should be pretty easy to do aswell.
+1 @ gorgeous veiled BTW, summoner Having two of them must be amusing to watch!
Hehe, happy to chip in what experiences and pics I have guys. I'll start a thread once I get some more shots of the current guys, one adult male of which is really beautiful. The females here can also rival the males for colour variety, unlike the fairly plain looking female in the pic above...
Hey there, thanks- some of them do have great colouration, even from a young age. Time and again I've had my knowledge (of cham characteristics) redefined by a newly discovered chameleon (they often cross gardens from neighbors, etc. Once I even had to scale a neighboring house's roof when I...
Thanks and no problem! The species actually varies quite significantly in colouration, I've come across many interesting looking guys. I'll happily upload some more pics of my current chams soon as I can. Maybe also try get some new shots- not so easy when you have to spend time looking for a...
Thanks, its great to finally join a forum with this likeminded passion for chams, should have done so years ago! I'm happy to show what pics I have, on this PC at least. These are of adult males and females, both reaching fairly similar sizes. The male in the pics grew to around 7 inches or so...
Hmmm, well I'll be getting my first veiled in a week or so. For the past 10 years I have remained content with the chameleons that live in suburban gardens around Cape Town, Cape Dwarf Chams. They generally care for themselves and I have around 20 scattered throughout my large garden. Only adult...
Wow, great stuff there. I'm new to the forum, will be picking up my first veiled male (aged around 6/8 weeks I'd say) in a week. Really excited, and I'm currently building him a nice base. A quick question to all- when releasing crickets into the cage, do they naturally migrate upward? Do I keep...
