Terrible Gas Prolapse (waiting at Vet ER now)

Well despite everything, I talked to the vet a number of times over the weekend and this morning, I was scheduled to pick him up at 3:00 today. At one I got a call that he had prolapsed again, it looks like all or enough of the intestines were out and are dying and there is probably not enough...

Terrible Gas Prolapse (waiting at Vet ER now)

Hanging out at the vet now. Their version of "bright and alert" is a bit different than mine! Ryan is up but very much resting, looks super dehydrated to me but his records show he got fluids this morning and some Carnivore Core oral squirty food this morning. He did "pee" already. I suppose...

Terrible Gas Prolapse (waiting at Vet ER now)

This morning I called the vet. Ryan is bright and alert... And hungry! I'm on my way with a delivery of silkworms.

Terrible Gas Prolapse (waiting at Vet ER now)

I am not sure but I don't think so. She did a stitch up inside of him in the tummy area it seemed like, since it was such a large and long prolapse, and said anything can happen, but that hopefully will work so this isn't repeated. I also am pretty sure she didn't neuter him at the same time...

Terrible Gas Prolapse (waiting at Vet ER now)

Vet just called, great, great, GREAT news. Ryan did very well in surgery, and it was easier than we hoped. She said he went under very well and came out very well, he is still groggy but she did a partial reversal of anesthetic and has him in the warm reptile room which should help metabolize...

Terrible Gas Prolapse (waiting at Vet ER now)

Thanks everyone! Well, so far, so good. The vet walked in, kinda slumped against the wall and said, WHEW, WHAT A PROLAPSE! I was terrified until she said how good he looks otherwise (he was drinking off the plant I brought with us this afternoon) and said she wouldn't offer me the option of...

Terrible Gas Prolapse (waiting at Vet ER now)

Thank you, EVERYONE for being so kind and supportive. It truly means so much to me. Ryan and I were referred specifically to a bird and small animal vet in Connecticut...they do hawks and have a reptile surgeon and all kinds of weird things! So I remain hopeful. Ryan is still hanging in there...

I know, everyone I talk to has never seen such a thing and it could be from so many causes, or barely a cause at all.

He has not. I adopted a tegu many years ago who did have it, so I know a bit about it, but Ryan has always had a 6% uvb (juuuuust now about 6 months old), calcium supplementation with arcadia and repashy and (sorry I just put all this in his new vet file and typing this as my bf drives us to...
