Absolutely Gorgeous! I've never seen such bright yellow legs on one before :eek:. I get some tanagers in my yard each year. (I think they are related :rolleyes:)
 
Yes, honeycreepers are in the tanager family. So are dacnis. Tanagers are a very large group, some are more specialized nectivores than others. I've had a pair of these honeycreepers for about 6 years now. My male's legs are not quite that yellow...apparently there are several races. He still looks as if he's wearing dance tights. Tanagers do well in aviaries as they are fairly small, not strongly migratory (so don't get frustrated by being in the same territory year round), not overly aggressive to each other or other birds and pretty easy to feed.
