Lets see your drainage systems

There may already be a thread about this but I searched it and did not see one just for pics of drainage systems. I am trying to get some ideas and thought it would be nice to see how innovative folks have been.

mine is just a 30 dollar wire rack from walmart with some tubs underneath to catch the water. it works really well.

Don't got a pic of it but can describe it.
- 6$ wooden table (very sturdy) from IKEA.
- Drilled a hole through the cage bottom and the table.
- Putted a piece of tubing in the hole so the table won't soak the water.
- Putted a bucket under.
And that's it

here's a great article that i followed and still use. it does require a drip tray w/ your cage but i'm sure you can do something similar if you don't have one.

My repti-Breeze is mounted on a 24" kitchen base cabinet with drawer. I simply put spacers under each corner of the plastic bottom then screwed down the center of the plastic with a washer and wood screw, this created a natural drainage to the center of the bottom. I then drilled holes in a small circle in the center of the bottom and inserted 1/4" pvc tubes thru each one to let the water drain. I put a rectangular cake pan in the cabinet drawer to catch any water.

Spencer, when you put spacers under the pvc piece on the corners, what is keeping feeders from getting underneath that? It looks like the bottom of your repti breeze has no screen with just the tray that comes with them. I may not be looking at it right but just curious. I like the drilling n the middle to create the slope, just want to make sure I understand the spacer part.

If you have a Reptibreeze or Zilla cage, you can simply tilt the cage to one corner and the water will run out. I had mine at the end of a table so the corner hung over a bucket and the water drained out.

In addition, I drilled a hole about 1 " in diameter at that corner. I then placed one of those cheap "hair catching drains" from Home Depot and it sits in the hole, allowing water and nothing else out. I can easily lift it out of the hole and wipe debris out of the cage through the hole.

I think one of those $30 wire racks mentioned with a screen bottom cage would ideal. That's probably what I will go with next time. It would be nice to have wheels at the bottom of it to be able to move the cage in and outside with weather permitted.

I also wanted to ask......I think I saw someone say that you could get the PVC sheets that come with the retibreeze or other screen cagees from lowes or somewhere like that...anyone know?

I use alot of coroplast plastic sheeting, You can get it from most hardware stores, also called plastic cardborad, its the same stuff most realestate and for sale signs are made of

Hoj, Do you have holes drilled under your plants or what route is the water taking. I am assuming those are some PVC racks with that cardboard stuff you are talking about angled for water run off?

I am getting some Very good ideas guys!

Sorry, forgot to mention I ran a strip of weather stripping along the edges of the plastic bottom to keep feeders from getting under there and dying.

Yes I holed drilled in the bottom pannels. 9 per panel just small enough that most cricket cant fit through.
and exactly the water goes through the pvc rack and onto the plastic sheeting that directs it to the buckets
