Keeping sick cham warm

Unfortunatley because my female chameleon is ill (dehydrated malnurished wild caught female montium) she does not move around her cage much. the ambient temperature in my cages is about 68-72 with 80 possible if near the basking light. she has not stooled in the 6 days i owned her although has eaten little and is currently being force fed on vets orders. Every time i place her closer to the light hoping to warm her up and improve digestion she slowly crawls to the bottom of her cage and hides in one spot.

Should i help her get warmer. sometimes even during the day she is only 68 degrees (by my temp gun) or should i leave her be

Thanks

Sean

If she was cold then she would stay by the light, so I say let her be. If she was really cold she wouldnt go to the bottom

Have you tried bringing her out to the sun even for a little while when the temps are right and keep an eye on her?

Just to warm her up or cheer her up a little since she is wild caught.

Also, if she's dehydrated you might want to up the humidity to as high as you can. I read montiums require 100% humidity

Thats to bad. I would worry more about the humidity than eating right now. If it were me, I would stop force feeding, and once you get her good and hydrated she will start eating normal. I would put alot of wet paper towles in the bottom of the cage.

unfortunately the vet feels she is so low on stores of bodyfat and muscle that we are using baby food to hydrate and nourish her. she is really one sick cookie. i did not realize what i was getting myself into sunday we i lost my senses and purchased from the reptile show without considering the possibility of her being wild caught and how malnourished as well as dehydrated she and her deceased sister were. The best she has looked is when i forced silkies with extra water (syringed 1/2 cc into silkie per vets orders) and with baby food today. i got a small cage from lll reptile in mail today and may consider using this to limit her chance of falling and increase access to heat hope it is warm enoug to take her outside tomorrow. Clevelands been sunny but cold.

thanks for all the suggestion

Hey my chameleon is also very dehydrated I heard you took yours to the vet, please could you tell me what the vet told you to do or what they did and what condition is yours in now?

mine is a wild caught new to me chameleon. she is very ill. if your chameleon will drink, just mist it more or shower it. if it won't but will eat try silkworms. my vet actually had me inject them with water but if yours is that sick you need to see a vet and get a diagnosis. Dehydration could be due to alot of problems. I would start a new thread in health section and fill out the information in the asking for help thread in the mean time and the experts here will help you

Good luck
