Hi my name is Sam. My boyfriend and i collect a lot of reptiles but he just purchased a panther chameleon at the expo. In all of his excitement he didn't ask what kind it was. Can someone with more knowledge please tell me what locale you believe he ? Thank you ahead of time =) i have seen him get almost white when he was stressed. These are some more relaxed pictures

Lately he has been a very dark green/blue with purple, almost black. I will try to get more pictures today.

Hmmm....Ambanja. He bought a female as well but i dont hVe pictures of her yet. She has been a bit more stressed so i have been giving her her privacy. We got them both for 400 at the Pasadena expo.

Yep!

Hey, isn't ambanja the v-bar, and sambava the u-bar? Or am I mistaken? Ahh!! Ambilobe? Nosy be? Which is which??

And he is very beautiful

I wouldn't worrie to much about the u, v and y bar for tracking down a local, it's alot better to go of the colour and the background colour witch in the Ambanja case is a white bar witch normally becomes more clear when fired up and also colour around the eye and throat

This is we're people get tricked between the faly and nosy be, some be have red dots and think it to be red rain but faly fire up with the white bars witch is a good way to tell between the two

Pictures wouldn't help with a female, it's pretty much impossible to be able to sex a female, I'm afraid to say sexing a female comes down to having faith in the breeder

His white stripe will turn completely teal sometimes. It is very beautiful. He changes so much i cant tell half the time what his natural colors are

Thats too bad about the females. I will try to contact who we got them from. I guess future breeding would be out of the question if shes not Ambanja. I wouldn't want to sell hybrids

Well if you did chose to breed, if you sold them saying thought to be Ambanja but not 100% that's fine and hold on to a male untill 7-8 months old you would then no about the female by seeing the the young was a clean Ambanja and your very lucky, the UK doesn't have Ambanja like this

Well thank you. I will need to do a lot more reading and research before even taking a step in that direction though.

He is a bit malnourished.

You dont want him fat at all, but he definitely needs to gain some weight.

He looks good though, welcome to the forum.
