Do yall think i could use this for a cham? I was thinking i could add a screen shelp uptop to hold the heating lamp and uva lamp?? Its almost 6 feet tall......?

hmmmmmm the sides are not screen......Would it be really hard to cut out the sides??

I can get it for free......So that means i could save a load of money and possibly get Mr Mangles!!

You could use that for a montane species with very little modification. If you want a panther of veiled you might need to cut the sides out and screen it.

It would be pretty easy to cut out the sides if you are at all familiar with a dremel tool... I've built cages out of much more difficult things. Screen isn't expensive, and it looks to have good potential...I'd grab it, if I were you.

Yes you can use that. Cham people tend to think you have to do all screen sides for some reason, but in that size of an enclosure the front screen will provide enough ventilation.

I agree.
Here is a picture of an enclosure here (Carlos') dimensions are: 18x22x48.
All solid except the front and top.
Even my all screen enclosures have the sides covered with visual barriers, and are fairly close to the wall in back.

Cutting out the sides would be really easy....just drill a 1/2" hole on to represent all 4 corners where the cutout would be....then just take a jigsaw and cut the lines leading from one hole to the other. Simple 'eh?

I wouldn't use it for a Montane-they need cooler temps and also air flow.

Oh I was under the impression that most motane species were kept in a screen cage with the side covered. I understand the need of air flow due to the constant watering and humidity. Should I be doing something differently with my fischers?

Also montane species are just chameleons that live in the mountains.

I keep my Fischers in an all screen cage, with a 40Watt bulb. Other than that he is kept the same as everything else.

Oh ok. Thanks for the info. I keep mine in an all screen cage with the sides covered. They've been kept outside since I got them earlier this month. I live in the mountains/hills so they get a lot of wind, sun and shade.

Jacksons are montane. That enclosure would help keep their humidity up and the temps low if a small fan is used to keep air flow moving. Heck, thats an awesome cage. Id snag it! :) (and I dont even have any chams anymore! sad face)

I agree with Brock and Brad. All screen isnt necessary. If the top is screen, and the front door is screen, that's probably enough. If its super hot and humidty where you live, and you need more air flow, you could simply drill 20 or 80 holes in each side. You might want to drill a few anyway, so you can more easily secure vines and branches using wire or rope or whatever.

The top is screen an the front.............Its acrually a triangle so it will fit in a corner.....Which i think is kinda neat.......I think Im going to get it!!!! Ill post pics for everyone once I get it all set up! So yall can pick it apart and make sure everything looks good!!hahaha:D
