Popeye hasnt been for about two weeks. He has been lazing on his branch not very active. Eating and drinking well. I gave him a couple of drops of cod liver oil yesterday and this is the result!:D He is now walking tall and more active. I am very suprised at him being constipated as he is eating quite a lot of silkworms. He managed a sperm plug as well.:D

I don't think I will let him go that long again. He didn't have any problems when he was on locusts.:)

How did you get the oil inside of him??
I am trying to get Smeagie to poop using a little olive oil maybe
injected into a worm or a big crick.

wow that is a gigantic poop! now that you know the cod liver oil works you can loosen him up sooner next time :)

great info to learn as well! did you use straight cod liver oil or some out of a vitamin? im unfamilar with this and am always looking to learn new things for future use with my next guy! :)

I pierced a capsule and stroked the sides of his mouth. When he opened up I squeezed a couple of drops in. That was about 4pm and I took him out around 10am and he christened my carpet:D

I think you may call it fish oil. It does have vit d in it so I won't use vit d this weekend. He certainly looks better. He has eaten a fair amount of large silkies lately. I would have thought that with the water content in silkies, he wouldn't have a problem. Probably not enough fibre.:D

Oh no!! I will make sure to put a diaper on him ;)

I suspect he ate some dried, ornimental spagnum moss and is a bit stopped
up

I have been feeding him kale with olive oil brushed on it, butterworms, and my last 2 silkworms and still, no poop!!

Of course, this time of year, they cut way down on food, and dont poop that much anyway, but if I dont see poop today, in will be 6 days (unless theres a dried up turd hidding somewhere I havent found yet!!).

I dont have liver oil, so I will use a little olive oil instead :D

thank you for the great info! :)

glad he is looking and feeling better! i agree, he probably needed some fiber in there ;) at least he is good to go now, thanks to his smart and dedicated mommy!

Thats a good sized POOP!! I have also used a tiny bit of mineral oil on a feeder to get things moving. Cheers. Im sure he is feeling a bit better LoL

Okay, nevermind! I came home 2day to a BIG surprise!!

A GIANT size poo-poop from Smeagie!!

It was the biggest cham poop I have ever seen!! so big, I checked out his vent to see if it still looked normal! I was half expecting to see a significant
enlargement!!
And yes indeed, I did see some sphagnum moss in it!! bad boy!!

In fact, all my boyz left me a nice healthy brown and white present to clean up!!

So, I guess just that small amount of olive oil I rubbed on Sméagol's kale leaf (which he only took 2 little bites of) got the train moving!!

Something to remember, a little goes a loooooong way  :D

OK.. I am sitting here laughing. Its good to know that I am not the only one worrying about poo all the time. I think the only other time I was this interested in poo was when my children were new born babies. lol

Again, thanks for the laugh and the information...:D

Hahahaha. Glad we are entertaining you. You can tell an awful lot by checking out a poop. I do it for a living:eek::eek::eek:

LOL!! I know, I started as a lab tech in a hospital! Each poop has it's very own little story to tell about the pooper!!

For two weeks I was only feeding my cham silks and I noticed he hadn't pooped in a few days. Luckily some warm misting's got him to go. I now have him on crickets, silks, and hornworms. I think I'm going to order some butter worms soon and add those to his diet.
