broken cask OMG!!!

I have a male veiled which I have owned for nearly 4 years. I don't know for sure how old he was when I got him. I think 2 or 3 was mentioned but his age was not really known. I think he may well be an old man by now. I have noticed him a few times getting his cask caught on branches and things (He just sort of pushes harder and barges past, rather than taking another route LOL. Since I have rearranged his viv I didn't think that he was getting himself into tight spots anymore.....but today I was quite horrified to see that he has broken the top of his cask! Not the whole cask, just the thin pointed outer ridge. The rest of the bone is still solid and intact, so the shape is normal. The outer ridge thoough has slightly come away from the rest of the bone? I can only presume that he has exerted a lot of force to do this? There is no sign of swelling/irritation etc but was wondering what would be best to do?

Does it need fixing back? Should I leave well alone? Would it re-knit back together? do I need to clean it or apply anything to help it heal or hold it in place?. I am more concerned that he may catch it on something and do more serious damage..... It does not appear to bother him but hes a tough guy (as are most reptiles) so that does not mean anything really. He has no problem with me touching the cask so if treatment is nessesarry it souldnt be a problem or too stressful for him. Any ideas anyone?

OK on closer inspection I dont think it is bone that is damaged, only scales. Im guessing this will come away and heal of its own accord?

sometimes excess shed can build up along the ridge eventually it comes off looking like a piece of his casque hopefully thats all this is

This happened to my veiled recently. He always forced himself through tight fits and his casque split at the top. The chunk ended up coming off so now he's a little misshapen, but it healed fine.

Yes, my Tommy had a bit of what I thought was casque come off the tip of the point. He also had part of one of his lobes drop off too. Both parts left what looked like a clean slice had been taken off. It all healed fine but he still has a section of built up shed along the top edge. I put it down to his previous owner never misting him, so he was unable to shed his casque fully and properly.

Do you have any pictures of what's happened to your little man? It might help to see for ourselves.
