Anyone use repti-GLO

Just wondered if any of you use reptiglo and what luck youve had with it. I know reptisun are the recomended tubes but they are rather expensive so just wondering how the reptiglo's measure up to the reptisuns.

Im not gonna jump all over you like other members would but although the repti sun is a much better product, the repti-glows will work just fine but may need replacing sooner. I have used them without any ill effects so i dont have anything bad to say about them, but thats not to say others wont. If thats all thats avaliable or can afford, go for it, its better than nothing, or even worse a compact light.

I use them for my pygmys no problem. They work fine.

I have heard that they are a bit weaker so you should use the 10.0 glo in place of the 5.0 glo. I believe I read this on a members post as they did testing on various bulbs with a UVB output meter.

I was thinking of going for a reptiglo 10.0 when I need to replace my bulb. thanks guys

Be warned though that the 10.0 puts out a very unsightly bluish light that doesn't really show the true colors of the animal too well. I brought it back the day after as I couldn't stand the weird color which I noticed the moment I switched it on. You might not mind the color but ask the person at the store if you can bring it back just incase.

They work pretty alright from my experiences. I use one on my new female veiled for the time being until I can upgrade to a reptisun ;-) The bluish lighting throws off the colors of the Cham, as Electric said.

reptisun arent that expensive IMO, $14 for 24" online isnt bad. compared to $32+ in local stores.

I'm in the UK don't forget though. I might just go for my trusty repti-sun. The 10.0 reptisun doesn't give off a blueish tint. Is this only true to repti GLO then?

I've used Repti-Glo 5.0 and 10.0 for years, no issues, and I the very very slight blue ting is almost imperceptable since there is also a regular incandescent tungsten bulb (for heat), which has a slightly yellow ting, right next to the tube light.

Regardless, I'm going to try to get ReptiSun (despite the extra expense) next time.

Ive historically changed the Repti-glo tubes every six months. I've occasionally re-used the used bulbs in a fixture under a cabinet in my green house - I notice the visible light begin to fade at about the 10 month mark, very noticable at the 12 month mark, and I must assume the UVB fades prior.

i use them. i have a shop light fixture w/ 2 uv bulbs, reptilglo 5.0 and a 10.0. i know most keepers on here are nuts for reptisun bulbs but i'm sure these will do fine for what i need.

basically, they still do the job with less efficiency.
Reptisun usually still going strong even after the 6 month mark (using UVB meter).
Reptiglo emits significantly less uvb after that.

I was told when I got my first Cham that ReptiGlo can be bad for their eyes after a while. I use ReptiSun only because I don't want to take the chance.

I am in the UK also, and have always used Repti Glo UV bulbs. I ensure that i change them every 6 months. Never had any problems with them and both Lily and Amy have been very healthy.

I have only ever noticed that blue tinge when the Repti-Glo tubes were brand new. I think it fades soon after that. I think they are o.k
