21 more J. Jacksonii babies

Our 3rd gravid J. Jacksonii lady we purchased in May gave birth this afternoon. 21 little ones. So we now have 39 J.J. babies growing. Here's a photo of a few of today's newborns as I lifted them out of her enclosure:

Comparing today's newborn with a baby born 9/6. Of the 20 born 9/6 only 6 have survived. I'm afraid it may have been my learning curve :(, even though I had great support from other's familiar with this species. Of the second clutch, born late September, 10 out of 12 have survived so far and look very strong.

Our 4th gravid female passed away 10/9. After I observed her sitting around with her eyes closed during the day for 2 days I took her to the vet. She did not appear dehydrated or underweight. There was no respiratory infection. An X-Ray showed that her offspring were not full term. Fetal development was not interfering with lung capacity. She was still strong with a good grip and her eyes were perfectly normal at the vet's. She was climbing all over the place. So we opted not to draw blood (hoping that perhaps she was closing her eyes for periods during the day because she was experiencing some routine discomfort). I wish we had, now, drawn blood, because she passed away a few days later. We did not get a necropsy.
