My little male jackson Rex has been on and off gaping his mouth throughout the day for the last week. I chopped it up to temp being to high, but everytime I checked the temp in the cage with my temp gun its a perfect 84 degrees at the very tip of his basking spot and about 81 on the lower portion where he likes to bask. (Worried my temp gun was off I used another therm with a probe that I have and got same reads)
The cooler area reads about 75-72 and 75% of my enclosure remains about in that 70 range and 25% is dedicated for basking. (I use same set up as jdogs vid, including fogger and even supp schedule) But now my little guy has begun to open mouth gape. I have been checking him in his viv a few times a day with the temp gun and his body temp is usually at 80-83 or gets down to 74 when he isen't basking. I've listened for popping, clicking, gurgling or weezey nosies and I hear none coming from him. When should I be concerned enough to take him to the vet? And is there any other signs i should be looking for? Anything I'm doing wrong?
I clean is cage every 3-4 days and I wipe down the bottom of the cage of any messes before bed everynight. I only use the fogger for 1/2 of the day, broken into two parts, morning for 3 hours, then 3 hours off and before bed 3 hours and then all night off.
Sorry i realize i posted this in general discussion
