First time outside and mating attempt.

Here are some pictures I took today. My chams enjoying the San Diego sun. I had them separated, then put them together for a breeding attempt. There was something that came out of the male. When it first started coming out I thought it was his you know what. It detached and just hung on the tree branch. Any ideas?

A male cham will periodically rub his cloaca on a branch and leave a little white dribble. They tend to clean their pipes when they aren't actively mating. I catch mine doing it from time to time. Sometime the sperm just gets backed up, especially on the "highly sexed" juvies coming into their own". Occassionally you have to help them remove it when it doesn't come out by rubbing it on a branch. The only time to worry is when the hemipene starts to come out. It can dry out and need vet care. Your male is now ready to go!

Thanks for the information. They didn't actually "hook up", but I am going to try again in 3 or 4 days.
