are pygmy hard to care for?

Eh. yes and no.

they dont require as much space, food, lighting etc.

but the have a SCDS problem.

Sudden Chameleon Death Syndrome.

it seems like pygmy are easier to care for then the normal chameleon, are they?

Its not easier, its different. Even though they may be easier to house and seem to do OK in a more typical "tank" setup, I would not consider them easy at all. Lots of tiny feeders that are harder to get or manage, very hard to diagnose or treat medically, fragile if mishandled. But, I haven't kept them and don't feel capable because I have no experience.
