would a 24x24x48 cage be to big for a babby cham i was going to build one and didn't want to build one to big

they recommend starting with smaller enclosures for babies.. if it were me i would spend the $30 to get the small screen cage and move him into the 2x2x4 when he is about 7 months old.

you can get cheap screen cages here , i recommend getting the 38 gallon (16.5x16.5x30)

Will be hard for your baby to find his food as often as needed. If you use the big cage from the start, you need to block part of it off making it smaller. 2-4 months usually get 16"x16"x20" cage. 4-6(7) month get 16"x16"x30" cage. May have to adjust according to species. Veils grow a LOT quicker than panthers. Didn't see you mention your make and model of cham.
