Tips on cricket proofing

OK so I am free ranging my 3 month old Nosy Be Panther with 1/4 inch crickets. After owning the new baby for 1 week I cleaned the enclosure and found about 25 "hider crickets" behind my fake exo terra wall in the back of the cage. I went right to work cricket proofing every mm on the outside edge of the wall. After 2 days I have not seen 1 cricket break my barrier so I got that fixed up. I have an arboricola plant in the enclosure and I have made sure the crickets can't get under the pot it is in. In fact the only place I think the crickets could possibly hide would be down in the pot itself. Honestly I have not seen one in there, but I do have 1 inch polished river rocks and I think they can get between them and hide. Does anyone have any suggestions on something to put in the pot other than the river rocks to keep the crickets out? Just trying to eliminate every possible place for hiding, they are sneaky!

I hate those Houdini critters! I quit with them because nomatter what I did, I was always finding strays in my house and it was grossing me out. And my chameleons didn't like them anymore. I'm doing silkworms now, and I am much happier!

I use small foliage. Like grass, and small ferns. I just find small plants I like from outside, and pack them in there.

Have you tied cup-feeding? I find that this is the best way to keep most of he crickets contained.

I attempted cup feeding for 2 days and she never touched one cricket, so it freaked me out and I went back to free range. I would honestly prefer to cup feed but I was told not to try it until they are 6 months old? I dont know. If you have any advice on cup feeding it would be appreciated.

You could try fitting a piece of pet screen or geotextile under the rocks but above the soil. That would stop them getting very far/remove the risk or soil ingestion.

You can also use landscape netting to keep the cham from eating the soil. It's good also at the bottom inside of the pot to keep dirt from washing out. The smallest roll will outlast your normal lifespan but it's cheap at the Home Depot.

mine took about a week to get used to the cup, otherwise tongs, and hand feeding..heres the same cham reluctant baby cup feeding to large male cricket trap feeding..

it would be good to get your cham "trained" or used to the cup idea now if you want them to constantly use it for feeding..:D

i like my milk jug feeding over cup feeding :p
i use a cup for the worms.
cut part of the milk jug out, like top 1/4 of a side where the handle is, tape some screen on the inside back wall so the crickets can climb up ( letting the cham see them ). make sure to melt or tape where u cut the jug so it doesnt cut the cham if he wants to hang on it.

i guess it depends on the size of ur cage

watched teh vids now and just like the 2nd link but with a galon milk jug.
i sometimes just toss crickets in there for him to hunt but they never last more than 3 mins

Lots of cool ideas. Thanks! I guess the biggest concern I have is I know they probably will go a few days before they get hungry enough to eat out of the cup. How many days is too many for a 3 month old to go without eating? I actually have a shallow cup in there now, but I have a stick leading from the bottom out so the crickets can slowly make their way out one by one onto the arboricola. So she is used to a cup being in there, now whether or not she is actually eating from it is beyond me cuz I have never witnessed it first hand. Does anyone suggest just going back to the cup and forgoing the stick so the crickets are forced to stay in the cup and she is forced to eat them from it?

So did your young Cham actually go the whole week without eating before they dared feed form the cup or how many days did it take for them to actually eat something from the cup?
