Hi all, newbie poster here and newbie chameleon owner too! We've had our cham for about 2 months and recently he's started sleeping during the day.
All signs appear normal, he looks healthy (we think) he's doing all the normal stuff, occasionally he settles in for the night earlier than lights out, but sometimes it much earlier around 3/4 pm. I'm aware that sleeping during the day is a bad sign and am hoping someone can advise if there's an indication of a problem
Chameleon Info:
Veiled Male, around 6-8 months, with us for two months
Handling - rarely only to clean out the viv, he doesn't like it!
Feeding locusts, mealworms and waxworms, around 5 large locusts per day, 1-2 wax worms and 1-2 mealworms put in in the morning and again around 5pm, locusts gut loaded with cabbage, grass and t-rex calcium plus, locusts also dusted with repashy superfoods chameleom super plus, also one live ficus plant which he eats
Small waterfall at back of viv, cleaned regularly, also misted 1-2 times daily with reptile mister, occasionally see him drinking and urine is creamy coloured
Droppings found daily, dark brown colour, occasionally with undigested leaves from ficus in viv, not been tested for parasites
Top of Viv is around 6 ft of floor in corner of living room, wooden walled with glass front, 24"X24"X36"
24" UV tube, basking spotlight, caged, controlled by microclimate magic eye thermostat, comes on at 0700 off at 2000
Temperature during the day on average 75-85, in evening around 65, regulated by magic eye and additional digital thermometer
Humidity between 60% and 90% measured by hydrometer
Cage is in corner of living room,
