Taste Buds?

Ok. This quote is posted at the bottom of the homepage:
Chameleons do have taste buds on their tongue but overall they have a poor sense of taste.

If this is true, why (OH WHY!) do they go on hunger strikes? One week, he LOVES hornworms, the next.....
Why won't they eat super fast bugs, that are supposed to break hunger strikes?
Why won't he go after that stick insect?

Nevermind me....these are just the ramblings of the mother of a very spoiled Panther.

Haha I think we can all understand that last part! I have reasons to believe they like and dislike certain foods because of the texture and the willingness of the food to fight back :D I just recently bought hornworms and my little one said, "No, no, NO! You can't make me!" Such a stubborn little girl. But I know that a the majority of chameleons really like them. They definitely have their preferences :p

It never ceases to amaze me. I recently started a Red Runner colony. Pixel will eat large ones, but not the biggest ones, which are not too big for him.
However, he has no problem devouring the biggest Mantis you've ever seen, that should really be impossible for him! Just bizarre.
