Sudden loss of hearing

I know this is really random but over three months ago I lost all hearing in my left ear. I went to the doctor and they said this happens all the time and they proceeded to clean out my ears. After that was done she said i should be good to go. That had no effect. They conducted a hearing test and verified that i can actually hear our of it but im pretty much deaf like you have to yell in the ear. I went to a specialist and she looked at me for about 5 mins and prescribed me some prednisone. I also have a horseshoe kidney and a hiatal hernia so I stopped taking the prednisone after after not being able to keep any food down ( i was also a very angry person ). My hearing has not come back at all, this has been verified by another hearing test. I lost my hearing out of no where and not only can i not hear but i have constant tinitus. I guess this is somewhat of a venting thread for me and im also curious if anyone has any experince with this. There isnt anything a doctor can do appearently either so am I just deaf now in that ear or could my hearing come back? BTW im 23 so im not just gettin old lol

Sorry to hear (oops, that pun wasnt intended) this
Sounds like Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss (SSHL). Someone i know (she was also young at the time) suffered this. She was also a bit dizzy and had very irritating tinitus. They gave her some kind of steroid and it did clear up / hear essentially came back and tinitus went away.

do you take any Ototoxic drugs for the kidney or hernia?

Idk I have been prescribed pantoprazole, ondansetron, dexilant, and prednisone. The first three are for my stomach and nausea and the last is a steroid the specialist gave me but I don't take any of them. I'm glad to hear (lol) that someone with similar symptoms has gotten their hearing back. It's more the ringing in the ear the bugs me the most. Thanks for guys support

Just a thought, but if you took the anti nausea meds, maybe you could tolerate the prednisone...according to the one person with experience, that's the sort of medication that can help with the hearing issue.

I just got my prednisone yesterday Im going to try and stick with it this time. Its going to be a shitty next two weeks lol. The stuff turns me into an absolute monster. Oh yea and i forgot the best side effect, its impossible to sleep while on this stuff.....at least now i have d3 to play It will be nice to not have to say what all the time though hahaha
