Plants and egg laying bin

I was thinking about moving around my veiled chameleons cage and adding a live plant to it. She is getting to the age where she should have an egg laying bin and I was wondering if I can have one with a plant in it.

Has anyone tried this? Also what type of soil should I use for the plant. (obviously one with no fertilizers or additives but not all the bags say)

Also what type of soil should I use for the plant.

Organic type that you can get from the Home depot or Lowe's.
