Help me sex my ambilobe!

I bought this supposed blue-bar ambilobe at a show in Pennsylvania in March. The guy told me he was a 3 month old male. Looking back, I realize he was way too small to be 3 months. So by now he is probably six months old. My concern is that he doesn't really show any color and so I think it might be a female. I think I see a hemipenal bulge but I have nothing to compare it to. I've attached 3 photos, the first from when I bought him and the other two were when he was a couple months older.

Anyone have an opinion??

Definite female.. contact the breeder and tell them you didn't what you wanted, hopefully something can be worked out.

Well, to the unexperienced eye, perhaps they thought that green on her cheek meant male. Unfortunately it's a mistake too many breeders make, especially when they are sexable at hatching if you know what you're looking for. Good luck in making the situation right but I wouldn't be too quick to think they did it on purpose. Hopefully they have some more males available now.

thanks. So what should I look for when I find a new one? The bulge behind the vent? grayish coloration?

I feel bad because ordinarily I would keep her and buy another male, but I'm a poor student and don't have the money or space to invest in another.

cool, thanks. This is the most help I've found thus far but the difference does seem very subtle and I'm not sure I'll be able to tell exactly.

I haven't been able to get in touch with the breeder. Do you think anyone would want to trade for a male?

Kents thread on how to sex a baby panther is the best sexing information I've ever read! It has helped me on numerous occasions and is always right.
