Hi all,
I'm thinking of converting a shelf to a cage for a future chameleon. This is a shelving unit from Lowe's. It uses metal and cheap wood for the shelves.
Here's a picture:
What I'm thinking of doing:
Run mesh around all the sides, making a door either on the side or front (or both sides)
Cut out a large rectangle in the top part, and put mesh there. I would mount the heat lamp for basking on there and put the UV light in a fixture under the uncut part.
Put a plastic floor mat on the bottom to trap the water and drain it through hole in middle.
Put a drip system on top
Questions:
Are those Reptisun 5.0 bulbs that can go into regular light sockets as good as the 18" tube ones? Would I have to use 2 of the "regular" ones?
For the mesh...I haven't looked yet, but I assume Lowe's carries this. Window screen would be ok?
I'm thinking of possibly making a frame out of wood to attach the mesh to it.
