nah thats kinda a myth. i dont think they see themselves;although, someone else on here may beg to differ. you'll have to make disisions such as that on your own and diside for yourself.

If I get the zipper one, will it be strong enough to have the basking light laying on top of it?

The mesh enclosures dont allow a lot of UV light to go through. At least not as well. (According to one of the forum members "Jerm". I spoke to him about this at the Orlando show a few months ago).

As far as glass enclosures, they do fine. The major problem is finding one of an appropriate size. You want a panther, which requires a lot of space. There are some exo-terras which are pretty big (I think they are the XL ones), but they are quite expensive and IMO you'll need more room. Its easier to find a screen enclosure of the right size, and I think they are easier to maintain/customize.
