I have read that reptisun is the best for chameleons, but i dont want to go out and buy a fixture for a tube bulb (i dont know what they are called). I already have a exo terra light fixture where i can put two bulbs. Can i just buy a 2 reptisun 5.0 bulbs and put them in the exo terra fixture. Are they the same thing as the tube reptisun or is it bad like the other bulbs they sell.

-this is a link if you dont know know what i talking about on the top is the regular reptisun and on the bottom is the reptisun compact bulb.

Get the tube type Reptisun bulb. The compact one can and will cause eye problems and possibly blindness in chameleons.

do you know where i can a light fixture get this for cheap, because i really dont want to buy an expensive ligght fixture. i have already spent alot of money

Wal Mart sells undercabinet fixtures you can use. Just remove the plastic lens. $7 for 18" and $9 for 24".

sounds good what you plastic lens, like a whole clear plastic that covers the bottom with the bulb is?

Julirs, if I am not mistaken, is refering to the plastic shielding covering the buld. It reduces the amount of light and adds an asthetic appeal. It also completely nullifies the UVB penetration into the cage. Just remove the cover and your good to go. If you cannot find a fixture at Wallmart, you can pick on up at HomeDepot or Lowes for about the same amount. Stay away from compact Flo Bulbs, they cause blindness in reptiles, especially chams. Good Luck!

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR GREAT HELP. Just one more question, where can i buy the reptisun 5.0 tube bulb for the cheapest, do they sell it in petsmart or petco and if so how much and is it better to buy online then a franchised store like petsmart, because with the shipping and handling i think it would come out a little more expensive or the same if they do sell them in the stores.

Your looking at 40 bucks from PetCo or PetSmart. I buy from LLL Reptile. They have good deals and great prices. I tend to shy away from shopping on the internet until I absolutely have to, so others on here might know of equal or better sites. With a PetCo PALS card, my 24 in 5.0 Reptisun cost 45 bucks after tax. Hope this helps.

Just checked LLL's site. 5.0's are 17.99 for 18'',24'', and 48''.

They can be up to $45 in a store like petsmart. At LLL they are 13.99 online.

This question is asked every other day
I'm new here and already tired of hearing it

plastic won't nullify UV rays, Tempered glass does a decent job of it, but still does'nt nullify unless treated to
