i have instaled a new line of heads in my system and now i cant get them to go off they all have water flowing to them(that got me drenched finding that out) but the heads wont spray i am using a pro mist pm70 i only have 3 heads on the line but it does not seem to want to spray i notice that the heads have threads on them but i dont want to twist anything because there expensive. i really need to get this sorted out by monday an suggestions.

Howdy,

Plugged nozzles? If you are SURE that you have pressurized water at the nozzle tip then there aren't a lot of reasons why the water isn't coming out. Are they Pro-Products nozzles?

yeah they are and the water presure is supper high how do i go about cleaning one

Howdy,

If they are plugged then it depends on what is plugging them. I have a friend who mistakenly used water that was transferred using a very dusty container and that dust/dirt clogged the tips. We were fairly successful at cleaning them by using 100psi compressor air to reverse-blowout the tips. If it is dried mineral deposits then try soaking them in something like "CLR" http://www.acehardware.com/sm-clr-cleaner-deodorizer-6-pack-bk-2000--pi-1276869.html or "Lime-Away" to help breakdown deposits. If they are the metal nozzles then it is possible that they have become corroded beyond repair... I use the typical plastic nozzles and tap water and have not had any major problems with clogging. Time for a magnifying glass :).

they have a metal tip but the rest is plastic are these the nozzles that you use also if i end up geting new nosels could i use mist king nosles they look like they use the same sise tubing

Howdy,

They use the same 1/4" tubing fitting the Quick-Connect fittings. I don't use the metal nozzles. To complicate matters, I use the nozzle mounts from MistKing and the cream colored nozzles from Cloudtops . I really like the multi-angled adjustability of the Marty's nozzle mounts but I prefer the flow characteristics of the cream colored nozzles rather than the typically supplied red nozzles. The cream colored nozzles have a higher flow rate and a wider spray angle. There are around 6 different colored-coded tips to choose from. If you are communicating with Marty at MistKing, bug him into stocking all of the nozzle colors :D. The cream colored ones aren't for everyone. I use a pressure regulator with my Pro-Products PMP-60 pump to reduce the pressure to 30 psi. This give me a more splattery, misty, drippy, rainy effect. For chameleons, unlike frogs, finer mist isn't my goal. A fine mist is probably more efficient at increasing humidity. I'm looking for what supplies a more chameleon-attracting drinking source.

The plastic nozzles are available from several sources:

i need to try to keep my spray radius to a minumum the drainage system i have setup is on thin ice with working properly so i want to keep the water in i have a dripper made from a pvc pipe that he drinks from regualarly. what do you sugjest is there a way to put a cone or something over the nozzel.
also did you just splice a preusure vale and restricter into the lines

I was thinking about starting a new thread, but since this one is already active and people are on it who know about misters I thought I would ask another question about misters. (I am new to the forum world so if this is a no-no please let me know :))

But I am currently misting my 2 panthers with a pump mister and standing at each cage for like 10-15 min. I want to buy an automatic mister (I think the pro-mist has me sold) but can it be moved from cage to cage because they are in two different rooms, or would that defeat the purpose of buyng a mister to make things simpler?? Thanks everyone I don't want carpal tunnel anytime soon :D

Howdy,

Funny that you should mention the "cone" idea. A lady that I met at a show a while back told me that she needed to limit the spray angle a bit more than the nozzle's current angle. She just stuck the nozzle in an appropriately shaped kitchen plastic funnel sitting upside-down on top of the enclosure:). Worked for her!.

Howdy,

I think you are right about defeating the purpose... It is possible to run a long stretch of tubing... Any overcomeable reason that they are in two different rooms?

Howdy,

I forgot to answer this one...

The pressure regulator is in the line after the pump. I just put a couple of pipe thread to Quick-connect adapters on it and it worked fine. The regulator was all that was needed. No other restriction is required. In fact, the regulator actually is a little bit too restrictive if you want to use more than about 6 nozzles. The volume vs. pressure curve shows that at the volume needed to feed 6 nozzles ends-up having a pressure drop below about 30 psi. One of these days I'll look for a regulator that flows enough to supply more nozzles. The regulator is adjustable from 0-60psi.

I don't think it is that big of a deal to skip using the pressure regulator and just use a nozzle that meets your needs. I just wanted more control over the mist than a "normal" person would need . I'm always in search of a more complicated way to do something :D.

i also like taking things a little to far:D i want to regulate the water actually going into each cage i was looking for some way to provide a constnt psi. i will try the cone thing once i get the nossels working:confused:
oh dan its cool to post in a thread related to the topic it cuts down on the clutter

my house is fairly small and I haven't found time to make room for both cages in one room, and the basement gets really cold with the a/c. But I guess if I am going to spend the money on one I could also take the time to do some rearranging:). I was hoping it was more portable, but that wouldn't be very logical.

i wonder if its possible to make a gravity propelled misting system using various tubing, a resovoir, and 360* misters
